What a great week to celebrate Christmas! The Alamogordo High School Choir Christmas concert was great fun and included a good number of traditional Christmas carols that gave honor to our Lord Jesus Christ!
The Awana float turned out wonderfully and we had about 30 kids and adults show up to make it a great night and a wonderful testimony for Christ!
The GLAD ladies put together Christmas baskets at their monthly meeting last night and they look wonderful. I am sure they will be a blessing to the families who receive them!
Tonight is the Christmas program for Imago Dei Academy at 1st Baptist Church! Laura and I would like to extend a personal invitation to anyone who wants to hear young people praise the Savior! The program starts at 6:30 pm!
Make sure to plan for the Christmas party this Saturday at the Golden Palace! We will begin at 6:00 pm!
Have a great time as we look forward to Christmas!

Thanksgiving was great, Christmas is coming!
We had a busy Thanksgiving week at Gateway! Our Thanksgiving dinner on 11/21 was wonderful and we had a great showing. Pictures are on our facebook page. We had a break-in at the church on Friday night, some damage was done but nothing critical. Pray for the hearts of the person or persons involved - there were 5 or 6 churches in the community who also had break-ins. Christmas is just around the corner! I have posted last Sunday's sermon on our main site entitled "He Gives Us Hope" - we need to remember the hope that is found only in Christ and share it with those who are in need! http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a fantastic time at our annual Thanksgiving dinner at the church last Sunday! We are so thankful for all those who God has allowed us to minister to and with! Have a blessed week and if you missed Sunday's semon "Truly Thankful" we talked about what Jesus was thankful for and why we should follow His example! Find it on the main site! http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

It's beginning to look alot like...
October has come and gone! Did you hear this is the first time in 823 years that we had five Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in a month? Well, that is not accurate - it has happened 4 times in the last 30 years with May of 2009 being the most recent - but it is still rare!
November is here! Today is Election Day! Get out and Vote!
December is just around the corner! How will you celebrate the Savior?
The New Year is not far off! Just imagine the blessings God has in store for you!
I have posted our sermon from last Sunday morning. http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

A New Ministry Model
We are adopting a new ministry model for our Sunday service times. Beginning November 7th we will no longer have our weekly Sunday evening services. It is our prayer that this will allow us to focus more intently on what we learn in our Sunday school and morning services and then be refreshed and ready to live those principles out during the week! We will continue our Wednesday evening Bible study and prayer meeting as well as our Family Fellowship Night on the last Sunday of every month.
I have posted this weeks sermons on our main site. http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

Still testing!
I have established the Facebook page for the church and have had a very positive response so far. I will continue posting here until we decide the best way to manage our communications. This Sunday's sermon "The Valley of Sickness" is posted on our main site!

Wonderful Awana Night
We have had a great start to our Awana Clubs. The local Fall Conference was last Saturday and five of our leaders attended. It was wonderfully motivating and we are excited to see what God is going to do this year! We had a great group of clubbers last night and look forward to seeing more as the weeks go by! Here is a picture of the Sparkies hard at work!

It is Finished!
In John 19:30 our Lord declared "it is finished" as He paid the price for our sins on the cruel cross. We thank God daily for His gift and count it a priviledge to share it with the world!
In a far less important declaration, I am glad to say "it is finished"! Our project to relocate the sound booth is complete and so far everything is working like a charm! Our sermon audio seems to be as good if not better than ever. Last Sunday's sermons are posted on our main site. Please e-mail me if you find any problems with the audio or have any questions about the sermons!

The end of sound system issues?
We had (prayerfully) our last Sunday with our old sound setup and had a couple of glitches. Our morning sermon did not record and our evening sermon has a lower-than-normal volume (but it is still worth a listen!) . The audio can be found here: http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

Moving Forward!
Summer was wonderful, but Fall is almost here! We are excited to get our Awana year started next week! The Awana Clubs have always been a blessing to our church and we expect more of the same this year! Be there Wednesday, September 8 at 6:30 PM!

We have completed construction on the sound booth! It took a bit more effort than expected but turned out great! The sound installer will be here on September 9th to finish the wiring and we can't wait to see it in operation!
I have also posted the sermon audio from last Sunday. It is part of a 3-message series on waiting in vain and well worth downloading! http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

No Sermon Audio this week!
We had the priviledge of having Sam Keller, Missionary to Central Asia with us in our Sunday services this week. Because of the sensitive nature of ministering in Central Asia we are not able to post the sermon audio from his messages. We will have next Sunday's sermons posted soon!

Summer is almost gone!
It is hard to believe we are almost officially done with summer! The private and public schools in our area are back in session and Labor Day is just around the corner!
We are excited to enter into the Fall season. Our Awana Clubs will resume on Wednesday, September 8th at 6:30 PM and we are looking forward to "Reaching Boys and Girls with the Gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him"!
I have posted the sermons from the last two weeks at our main site.
I also thought I would post a "in the middle" picture of the construction of our new sound booth. I deeply appreciate all those who gave to provide for this project and the efforts of Dr. Love and Dr. May in it's construction! We should have the completed pictures next week!

A wonderful (and busy) beginning of July!
We have had a great couple of weekends at and around our church! On Saturday, July 3rd we celebrated the independence of our Great Nation with a church picnic and had a great time. On Saturday, July 11th we were BLESSED beyond our expectations by the ministry of the Young at Heart Choir from Albuquerque, NM! http://www.yahchoir.com/
We did not get acceptable audio from our July 4th sermon but I have posted the sermon from last Sunday at our main web page! http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

Independence Day Weekend Activities!
We will be having our annual Indepencence Day Picnic at Alameda Park from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM! The Church will provide hamburgers and hotdogs - bring the rest and have a great day with us!
Audio Sermon Issues
I was just notified by the host of our sermon audio files that there was a problem with their servers and some of the sermons posted over the last six weeks were lost. Looking at our website I noticed there are a number of sermons that are not posted. Our provider said they are working to restore these files and I will try to update whatever they do not recover. I have posted this week's sermon on the main site. http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html
A special thanks to Shiloh!

Last Friday Alamogordo had the pleasure of sharing in the ministry of the singing group Shiloh for the fourth year in a row. They were here to perform a benefit concert for Imago Dei Christian Academy http://imagodeiacademy.weebly.com/index.html and did a wonderful job! They are some of the most down-to-earth and God-honoring musicians I have had the pleasure to meet! Learn more about them on their website! http://www.shilohnet.com/

Remember Righteousness

We thank God for all those who have given their lives for our freedoms. In this week's sermon we look back to the words of President Lincoln in his famous Gettysburg Address and are reminded that the best way to remember those who have fallen is to take up the mantle and bring our Country to where God wants Her! http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

Awana Awards Night 2010
Tuesday, May 18, 2010
Summer is approaching!
It is hard to believe that another school year is almost gone! Our Awana clubs only have one more Wednesday meeting left and their Awana Awards Night is this Sunday evening! We look forward to recognizing all their efforts!
This Sunday we continued with our "Practical Principles from Proverbs" series with a challenging message about sitting in the seat of the Simple, the Scorner or the Fool. In our Evening message we tackled the popular question "Why does God allow Evil to exist"! Both messages can be found on our main website!

He is Risen!
We had a great time focusing on the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ over the past few weeks. In truth, we celebrate the Resurrection every time we meet because it is our only hope and the foundation of our faith! I have posted the sermons from the last two weeks on our main site - enjoy!

The Revelation of the Resurrection!

There are only a few more days until we celebrate Resurrection Sunday and all that it means to us as the Body of Christ! We are thrilled by all that God has revealed through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but many are not. Listen to our most recent sermon "The Revelation of the Resurrection" to find out why! http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

Is it March already?
It is hard to believe another month has come and gone but March is here and Resurrection Sunday is just a few weeks away! Time change is next Sunday so be sure to set your clocks forward one hour!
In the times we live in we need to depend on the timeless truth of God's Word nore than ever. Last Sunday's sermon reminds us of this need. It is posted on our main church website at http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html !

Forward Thinking
We have finished our Missions month and I want to personally thank the faithful Missionaries who presented their burden for the World.
Miguel Lopez, Missionary to Honduras
Stephen Kennedy, Missionary to Ireland
Henry Powell, Outreach to Asia Nationals
Terry Ingram, Global Church Planters
Each Missionary had a particualr focus, but each had the same burden - to bring the Gospel message to those who have not heard! That mission begins with us. In this weeks message we examine our need to speak the Truth in our own lives. The sermon entitled "Forward Thinking" is posted on our main site: http://www.gateway-baptist.org/listen.html

Missions Month

We had a great start to our missions month as we hosted the Lopez family, Missionaries to Honduras. They displayed an incredible passion for their calling and we are excited to see what God is going to do through them for the people of Honduras!
We are still working on our soundroom transition and will get our sermon audio back on line as soon as possible!

We are still here!
We have had a great start to 2010. The Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University classes are going strong and we have a great group of people involved. We have had the priviledge of seeing a number of first time attenders in January and look forward to ministering to them.
February is our annual Missions Month -we will begin with Migul Lopez, Missionary to Hoduras and are excited to see what God has in store for us and our Missions outreach in 2010!
We are transitioning our sound room personel and have had some problems with recordings. We should get back to regular postings soon!
